about concrete

Character
Each piece produced has its own unique character in terms of color depth, mottling and tonal range. Most pinholes and voids are filled with matching grout before polishing though some may be left unfilled in areas where they enhance the surface appearance. Hairline cracking may appear on the surface and is part of the character of the material. These cracks are non-structural. All products are reinforced with galvanized wire lathe, glass fibre and or reinforcing bar as needed.

Sealing & Finishing

All products are treated at the factory with two coats of penetrating sealer. We then apply three coats of carnuba wax to our products to complete the finishing. If you would like to apply another finish material instead of the wax, let us know when you place your order and we will
ship the products after the initial sealing.

Care & Maintenance
Concrete, like any other stone surface material requires a certain amount of care and maintenance. To keep it looking its best, care should be taken to remove liquids, such as red wine, coffee and fruit juice, which could penetrate, etch or stain the surface if left in contact for an extended period of time.
Periodic re-application (every 6-9 months depending on amount of use) of the wax will keep the surfaces looking great. Do not cut directly on the surfaces as they will scratch. Avoid placing hot objects onto the surfaces as they can sometimes cause discoloration of the surface finish material. Only non-abrasive cleansers should be used, regardless of what surface finish option is chosen.

Production Method
Betonas's standard sink and furniture products are produced from molds under factory conditions to ensure consistency and a high degree of quality. Our custom surfaces are also produced from molds as opposed to being poured-in-place and trowel finished. We choose this method as it is less disruptive of our clients premises and affords us complete control over the entire production process.
